Flight Trainning Europe - Modular

Does anybody have any feedback on FTE's modular CPL / IR package. It's a very competative price all things considered but I am concerned about it being geared around intergrated students, who would understandably get some priority, and how well they are actually set up for modular students. I believe a modular student requires a slightly different approach (in terms of instruction) to a full time intergrated student to achieve sucess.

I am aware of some disatisfaction with the place and would be very interested to hear more from anyone else who has gone through the system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am about to part with my life savings!!!!!!

I am seriously considering the same course and would like to if there is any element of the integrated guys and girls being treated differently to modular.

As far as I am concerned I am there to work as hard as I can and get a first time pass, if I’m not happy about something I will speak up, but it would be nice to know if any one has had grievances of this nature before, and if so how they were dealt with?

I have only heard good reports about the school but that was from integrated guys so there perspective may have been different. Just a little concerned about the big school theme on here and modular being second class.

If this one doubt can be laid to rest I’m 90% going at the end of the summer for the CPL/ME/IR. It looks great!

Just thought you guys may want to look around a bit further. Can't comment on FTE but can recommend PGT at Kemble. Do a search on prune. That should tell you alot. Good hunting

Likewise with Subcutaneous, I can't really comment on FTE, although I've heard good things about them through this forum.

I did my MEP/IR with Flightpass at Exeter. They do modular courses. I had a great time there, but my only regret is that I didn't do my CPL with them as well. If the airlines aren't beckoning me soon, I'm going back there to do my instructor rating.

I'm here in Spain now in Malaga doing the ME IR modular spent couple of hours familliarization and I'm impressed with the outfit not the size of the mountains!!!! 3 other English guys are doing their IR they are now on the ME its all done in the aircraft 40 hrs complex and 25 BE-76 or Seneca I decided to go for all Real time course plus I get to fly the final 15 hours in U.K airspace its £12000 for ME IR inclusive of all landing, test fees etc or £16000 for the ME IR CPL combined BCT/Aerodynamics all inclusive. Did some training there, what do you wanna know?

Is it a good outfit? Yes

Would I do it again there? Debatable, undecided. I CAN THINK OF WORSE PLACES.

Standard of Instructors: Generally very Good, like many FTO's it depends on the individual your put with......theres always one rotten apple in every cart!

I have spoken to a large amount of Trainees from different backgrounds, most seem to recommend oxford for the overall picture........Oxford are also more employer friendly, even for Modular Students, or as Oxford calls them 'Customers'.

Anyway Kiddo, its up to you, your decision......

As Mrs Flaps would say, if you want really nice flowers go to a florist not to Tesco. If you want modular training go to an FTO that specialises in modular training; not an integrated training school that also offers a few modular courses. Whilst you may still receive a decent service from an integrated FTO it is not what they are best at.

The other advantage of a specialist modular training provider is that you are likely to receive a far more personalised service. Where I undertook my training (same FTO as OWAG) there was a guaranteed limit of two of us on course so everything was tailored around us. Very different to the "sausage factory" feel of some places. Thats exactly what I was trying to get at, FTE is good for Integrated, and maybe not as focused on Modular Students as they should be, but you only realise that, when you ve started. You get the attention and feeling of a 'sideliner'.

This may present problems should you require additional focus on some areas of your training.

As an instructor said to me once, 'they are focusing on selling only apples at a fruit market, when they should be selling more types of fruit'

Nice Flaps - congratulations mate, you kept that one under wraps about a Mrs Flaps!!?? I will quiz you more on that one when we meet up for that future reunion beer. Anyway, I had you pegged as a more of a Sainsbury's guy. :)

In my experience, the smaller FTOs do tend to make you feel more comfortable and give you more of a homely atmosphere, which made me feel more relaxed and able to focus on what I was going to be doing.
