Apologies if this has been raised before, but I'm fairly new to the forum.

A short while ago, I heard a rumour that the RAF has either the same or a similar number of Staff Officers now, as it did at the end of WWII.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

If it is true then

I doubt it. At the end of the war we had more groups, commands etc than staff officers.

Now if I could find a staff officer as the 3 immediately above me are all gapped posts.

The related question...the US Military has as many flag rank officers (if not more) now than at the end of WWII....funny how the guys with the Stars protect their jobs.

How about in HM forces....how many General Rank officers now compared to the end of WWII?
