Does the worlds media find it necessary send their own camera crews to events deemed important? why don't they just have the local TV service cover same and and transmit it worldwide?

Probably for the same reason that politicians often go on "fact finding" trips all over the world, when all the info is readily available on the internet, and from previous trips.

They are just trying to justify their enormous salaries, and make it look as if they are working hard.

In a similar vein, why do news correspondants have to go to some out of the way venue when all they are going to do is recite a piece to the camera? Downing Street seems to be full of journalists at about ten at night, all saying things that they could say just as easily from the studio. Still, if they want to stand outside in the rain, let 'em.

I think it's funny when they go out in the hurricane/tornado/hail storm to demonstrate how bad/dangerous it is :*

From my experience with those of journalistic tendencies :E, presenting the story is only part of it. Dreams of the accolades/awards/whatever that they may become nominated for in putting "their ass on the line" is a major driving force.

If sending camera crews is a bad thing, is that neutralised by "embedding" them?

Like embedding them in their thick skulls?

Why? Does the worlds media find it necessary send their own camera crews to events deemed important? why don't they just have the local TV service cover same and and transmit it worldwide? Cuz if they did, instead of Drapes complaining about the costs and necessities for news networks to have their own crews in position...Drapes would be complaining that the local crews could never be properly independent and report accurately, especially as they weren't Newcastle born n' bred?! :=
