Hi All,

As part of my university work I am doing a market audit on the lowcost sector (ie Easyjet, Excel, RyanAir etc). I am trying to find out market shares of the main players, with Easyjet and RyanAir in particular. I am only concentrating on the European carriers. I have had little luck, I have been able to find market reports, but only at a considerable cost (£2-400), which my student loan doesn't stretch to!

Can anyone help?? I do not need extremely indepth analysis, just basic %'s would be helpful enough. I already have revenues and profit figures. To repeat its market share figures Im after.

Eternally grateful,

Cosworth211. :ok:

1st thing i think you should know is that Excel are NOT alow cost airline they ARE a charter airline.

Don't know whether this will be useful, but try The Mercer Study (http://www.mercermc.com/Perspectives/Specialty/MOT_pdfs/Lowcostairlines.pdf) and this (http://www.economist.com/business/displaystory.cfm?story_id=2897525) Economist article.

Thanks johnwalton that has given me an insight to the size of the market that low cost sectors are accountable for. Thank you, it will be useful for my uni work.

I am still looking for what % of that low cost sector each player takes up if anyone can help.

Thanks.

The Yearbook of the Association of European Airlines usually has a section on locos, charting their development over time. You can download it from their website (http://www.aea.be)

From memory there is a bar graph with about ten years of data, you could ask them for the figures behind the chart.
