Dear French-speaking friends:
I was wondering if you can share some information on "Air Tahiti" (the ATR operator) NOT "Air Tahiti Nui" (A340 operator).
Specifically how to apply for a job with them?
Is French language escential?
and where do most of their pilots come from?

I suppose alot of French pilots would love to fly over there.

Merci!

Well, Isuppose french speaking is more than appreciated ... It's probably a requirement .
Am not so sure about the "Heavenly workplace" in polynesia .
I have heard a lot of disappointement from people based there (not in this specific airline , polynesia in general )
Salaries can be good :O but life very expensive :(
Atmosphere toward european also an issue .
Send me a PM if no reply arise, I may have a contact over there

From what I hear, especially in Air Tahiti Nui, there is now some discrimination taking place, ie if you are not a Tahiti-native or long time resident, your file goes at the bottom of the pile. If you don't even speak French, forget it. Same goes for Air Mauritius and other island-based airlines.

I was based in Tahiti once and frankly there are better places in the world. Of course you've got the sun, the beach & so on, but as was pointed out above it is becoming an expensive business to live there, there are major traffic jams downtown Papeete & there are lots of things you can't get as easily as in say Europe or the US. Not my idea of "paradise" anyway.

OK, thank you for that so far... anyone else?
I do speak some French and will be looking to improve.
ATR type-rated.

Porcorosso: Check your PM's and thanks.
