Could anyone kindly correct me of the following information:

Cathay Pacific Fleet and Engines>>

B747-400: RB211-524G
B777-300/200: RR Trent 892
A330-300: RR Trent 772
A340-600: Trent 556

Now which engine does the A340-300 have and how much thrust it gives? and why not the RR Trent series (that's what I know of)

Thanks for shedding any light of this knowledge. Just out of curiosity. Not a pilot myself, only a wannabe...

B777-200 has the RR Trent884, producing 84000lbs of thrust
B777-300 has the RR Trent892, producing 92000lbs of thrust
A340-300 has the CFM56-5C4, producing 34000lbs of thrust
A340-600 has the RR Trent556, producing 56000lbs of thrust

In short the A340-300 was not offered any choice of powerplant, the CFM56 was all that was on offer. Not sure whether it remains that way?!

Assuming you are talking about the 340-300. Would it not be becuase the Roll Royce Family of wide body engines... RB-211's are all Triple spool. and triple spool engines couldn't be really optimized efficently such low thrust. (34,000 lb).

Nope, the 340-200/300 is only offered with CFMs like the 340-500/600 is offered only with Rollers Trent 500 and if CX was to get the 777-300ER/200LR they would have to get them with GE90s.
