Three men were arrested at Johannesburg International Airport over the weekend after 10.11kg of cocaine worth more than R4.5m were found in their possession, police said.

The South African citizens, all aged 58, were arrested on Saturday and Sunday after cocaine was found hidden in their suitcases when they stepped off flights from Sao Paolo, Senior Superintendent Tummi Golding said.

The first man was arrested on Saturday morning after 4.5kg of the drug were found in his suitcase.

The other two were arrested on Sunday after one was found in possession of 1.86kgs, the other with 3.75kgs.

Interesting to find more information on this particular case. Mainly whether these folks were repeat offenders etc.
There is a trend lately to find Senior Citizens to "Mule" drugs as they dont normally set off the bells and whistles while going through customs. Most are on fixed incomes or retired and someone dropping a few thousand dollars on them is fairly tempting.
It can also be a life sentence for older folks.......
