There has been some recent correspondence about Adaware hanging up, has anyone had a similar problem with Spoybot? It used to run OK but now hangs up when the ‘Fix selected problems’ is started. Task manager reports it is not responding. It is reporting 16 assorted problems. Have tried uninstalling & reloading with no effect. Adaware runs OK. So far as I am aware nothing has changed or been added from when it was running OK. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Sometime Spyware and Adware can sort of protect and reinstall itself. It can take several different programs to remove it all. I am currrently using 4 pieces of software to keep my system clean:

Microsoft Antispyware (downloadable from microsoft.com and also has active security agent that monitors real-time and stops various nasties installing themselves).

Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.

Spybot Search & Destroy.

The Yahoo! taskbar - has Anti-Spy program.

Try running the others before you run Spybot again see what happens.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies, tried all that & still hangs up. I'll just kill Spybot and live with it.

try running it in safemode.
Adaware and and Spybot sometimes don't get on (have correspondence issues!)

Run it in normal mode as well after.
