The man charged with the job of salvaging Qantas's troubled Jetstar Asia says the four-month-old airline has begun to show its first signs of viability.

Despite the Singapore-based carrier looking to lease out half of its fleet of eight A320 aircraft after failing to gain traffic rights into Indonesia and China, Jetstar Asia chief executive Ken Ryan has rejected speculation Qantas could soon quit its 49-per cent $38 million investment.

"Some people have been a little sceptical but I can assure you that at the moment we are carrying good loads and the forward bookings are strong," Mr Ryan told the Herald.

Mr Ryan said Jetstar Asia's services to Hong Kong, Taipei and Bangkok were all starting to attract solid demand. He said Jetstar Asia's website had become the popular airline website in Singapore and at times was the most popular website in the island nation overall.

"There's some very good signs ... for us," Mr Ryan said, adding that yields on certain routes were already showing signs of improvement.
