High tech cars.

What with some manufacturers having "zappers",some you enter a pin,but didn't know Mercedes have gone all the way with fingerprint recognition. But car thiefs still get the car by doing this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4396831.stm).

Wouldn't like iris recognition then.

Sorry, Jer - I meant the excellent and highly underrated film . . .

Fair enough, as a straightforward hack-and-splat it's pretty workmanlike, but it's actually very cleverly written, with lots of subtle humour and sly references (the main characters are Lenina Huxley and John Spartan - at one point she says to him: "John, you're a savage". Geddit ? ). There are some really funny lines:

Lenina Huxley: I was wondering if you would like to have sex?
John Spartan: With you? Here? Now?
Lenina nods
John Spartan: Oh, yeah.

After futuristic, contact-free "sex."

John Spartan: I was thinkin' we could do it the old-fashioned way.
Lenina Huxley: You mean... *fluid transfer*? Eeeeuwww ! Disgusting !

. . .

Lenina Huxley: Transfer of bodily fluids? Do you know what that leads to?
John Spartan: Yeah, I do! Smoking, kids, a desire to raid the fridge...

Lenina Huxley: [mutters under her breath] Sanctimonious asshole!
Machine on wall: Lenina Huxley, you are fined one-half credit for a sotto voce violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.

Oh, and Sandra Bullock's in it. :O

fingerprint recognition is available on an A8 in the UK , has been for a little while.

If they want it, let them have it. Its why you're insured.

cue syllo.......................

edited to add, you can turn the recognition system off. I didn't mean let them have your fingers!

Grainger, thanks for the memories. One was always fond of that film.

Another exchange, as the cops are about to take vengeance on the bad guy:

Lenina Huxley "C'mon, let's go blow this guy!"

John Spartan: "'Blow him away.' It's 'blow him away.'."

Well, one enjoyed it at the time...

Besides, Sandra Bullock's in it.

As an added bonus to the criminals, should they ever be caught, the victim will be unable, in a line up, or indeed in court...to point them out :ugh:

In the USA, the best security device to be found is the stick shift (manual model to the other cousins)....
