Have been trying to set up an old donated 500 Mhz PC in the ops room of the local club.
Had wanted to set up the thing with a basic "always logged on Restricted user account", remove the control panel, admin tools, run box etc etc, to keep the ever present Settings twiddlers" out of the machine.
The problem:
From a cold boot, with auto logon to the restricted user account, the LAN and internet not available. The D-Link software says no card installed then the prog terminates. I need to log of the user, log back in as admin, card seen fine, then log back in as user to get the card to work.
This is from a clean instal of Win2k on re formatted HDD.
Have tried with and without all MS SP's and updates installed, older card drivers, D-Link support lines, etc etc.
Any ideas?
