Varig's current medium/longhaul fleet is an eclectic mix of 757s, 767s, 777s & MD11s.

The 772s were originally meant to replace the MD-11s, however with the leasing costs of the 772 being quite high, the airline ended up getting more second hand examples of the MD-11. This means that the airline has a mix of previous owners for both their MD-11 & 777 fleets!

The 744s are possibly going to be ex-UA too like the most recent 777s. I've also heard that then 757 is doing well for Varig and that more could be added.

Can anyone explain why European flights to Rio always seem to stop over in Sao Paolo or vice versa? Is this a legal or tech thing?
