Hi everyone,

I saw some footage on 60 Minutes on Sunday showing all the helicopters being thrown off the ships when the US pulled out of Vietnam. Does anyone have any stories they could share regarding this event?

There was also footage of a Huey being ditched into the sea and what looked like the pilot jumping out before it splashed.

I don't wish to bring back bad memories, but can anyone talk about this event?

Regards,

Tickle.

There is a Vietnamese pilot that works for Aramco that was one of those pilots....his account of those last days will break your heart. He was unable to get his family out but did get 21 others out when he made his flight to the carrier. His account of the ditching is absolutely hilarious.....I would love to see his full account on PBS someday. He has been back to Vietnam several times to visit and his stories of those trips are also worth listening to.:ok:

Hueys were wasted for sure. Could have been salvaged with a little planning. Anyway, you should have seen the whole Video. Chinooks went swimming also............
