The Lynx has suffered from some flak on PPRuNe of late, however, here are two cases where it has been highly effective.
RFA WAVE RULER and her Lynx (http://www.rnjobs.co.uk/rn/content.php3?page=1&article=872)
GRAFTON drugs bust (http://www.rnjobs.co.uk/rn/content.php3?page=1&article=880)
Talking about the operation, Commanding Officer, Commander Rob Bellfield (39) said: “Grafton was tasked to locate a vessel acting suspiciously in the mid Indian Ocean. We closed her last known position at full speed from 250 miles to the north-west and launched our Lynx aircraft, which located the vessel at her maximum range. The Lynx then flew repeated sorties to maintain tracking and gather further intelligence”.
The Lynx Flight Commander, Lieutenant Mark Jones (34) said: “the vessel was a small and stealthy target in a very large expanse of water – he was extremely surprised to see us!”
