Looking at the picture, it seems the survivors were very lucky not to have suffered greater injuries-

Johannesburg - Two people were critically injured and three seriously hurt when an aircraft crashed in Germiston, east of Johannesburg, on Friday afternoon. Emergency services spokesperson Johann van den Heever said the eight-seater Piper crash-landed shortly after taking off from Rand Airport between Germiston and Alberton about 13:00.

He said the aircraft was carrying five people - four of one family and a friend - and two dogs. It appeared the Piper lost power and the pilot was forced to crash-land in Lambton, Germiston, about two kilometres from the airport. Van den Heever said: "Although the pilot avoided houses, he collided with trees and a carport." The injured were taken to Union Hospital in Alberton and Sunward Park Hospital in Boksburg. The dogs, a Rottweiler and a cross-Maltese poodle, were not visibly injured, but were in shock. They were taken to the SPCA, he said.

Once again, -10 points for the tv news team, good video footage, but, if they are actually looking for the black box, i suggest they clear their day planners for at least a year.

Speedy recovery wishes to all involved
