I have never seen anyone denied boarding but it is high time someone did something about the management of the crew/staff bus. It is a shambles.

Try getting on the bus at about 1230-1245 terminal bound or 1345-1400 Kitty City bound any weekday and there is a lunch queue a mile long of office staff heading to or from the terminal.

Join the queue, uniform or no uniform...to hell with whether you will be late reporting or not.

I guess it is a case of noodles over schedule integrity.:*

I hope it isn't true that non-flight crew will be barred from using this service. If I am working at the FTC (and staying at the Regal) it is very handy in getting to and from.

Couldn't a suggestion be put forward to place a notice on the pavement and on the bus that flight crew have priority boarding much the same as at the security area in the terminal?

The buses are supposed to run every 15 minutes (last time I was there) so waiting for the next one isn't going to ruin my day but might well cause problems for the flight crew.

I have also never seen hoards of Pinoys on the buses either. If they weren't crew or have business there, I wonder why anyone would wish to go to CX City!

Best!

OK here comes the frag under your door...

I think the only section of Cathay Pacific that call the Cathay City to Airport Terminal transport a "crew bus" are Cathay Pacific crew. To others it is the airport bus. It is true that a large majority of its users are crew, but I wonder if anyone has done a survey to see what the percentage is, and therefore what the requirement will be.

If as an office worker at CX city I need to be back at 14.00 for a meeting and get offloaded because a crew member takes priority, how would I feel? Yet another reason to resent flight and cabin crew I would guess.

Let's attack the problem, which is cost cutting on airport transport. We simply need more buses as peak times and screw the marginal cost. CX should provide a basic facility for all staff and their dependents.

Not a crew bus? Is there some other way for crew to get to kitty city after a flight?

Moosp I edit because I just read your post again. You have a meeting at 1400 so take a bus at 1300. The crew who you don't think should cause your offloading may have started work 18 hours before you. Perhaps the answer is dedicated crew transport like at Kai Tak then you could have the scheduled bus dedicated to you and yours.

Moostp,
throwing the frag right back!

It's a shame you would feel hatred for cabin crew or flight crew, should you be offloaded from the "crewbus".
Don't forget that these people are just following the rules laid down by the company:'uniform goes first'
Also don't forget that this is an airline, the way we make money is by flying people from a to b, for this we need cabin crew and flight crew.
If the flight crew misses a bus and subsequently a flight because you had to get your lunch at the airport, it might have caused some serious delays down the line. Not good.
However, I agree with the extra busses idea.

Don't hate the crew, get more busses.

Look whose family company has the food court contract at CX city. Do you think it is in this person’s interest to provide extra buses between CX City and the airport terminal during the lunch time rush? I think not. This problem has only really existed since they took over the food court. Bring back the Curry Munchers and the problem goes away.

Please don’t blame the flight or cabin crew. The bus service is there for us to do our job. Not for people to go to lunch.

''another reason to resent flight crew''

Hello, without flight crew the ''office'' can take a whole day for lunch!

As some old greybeard once said: No 4th floor, airline still flyin. No flightcrew, airline stop flyin...

So the QF hubris exists @ CX.

If you had to get back for a meeting at 1400 moosp maybe you and fellow office staff could stop having a 2 hr lunch and return to the office a little earlier to make the meeting on time.
Another reason to resent office staff ?

This is just perfect isn't it?

Staff members sniping at each other because of incompetent arrangements for travel ignored by our respective managers.

Blame the right people!

The transport arrangements work just fine, but the system is being clogged up by non-essentional usage [see above]

with respect to the food-chain, i think the 'non-revenue producing staff' should give priority to the operational staff.

I bumped into the bloke that runs HAS this morning. He said that as far as they were concerned, they were contracted to provide
a 'staff shuttle' to/from the terminal building. 'Crew transport' was provided from CX City to aircraft side for outbound flights and, for inbound remotely parked flights and freighters a crew bus is provided to bring crew to the terminal. i.e. there is no such thing as a crew bus from the terminal to CX City.

I asked why not and he said he didn't really know but thought CX anticipated more crew dispersing from the terminal and not bothering to go back to CX city every trip.

He also reckoned the uniform staff priority boarding thing has been scrapped in 2003?

Fyi only

Something for Feel Warthog to sort out then. Provided the GMA rumours are purely scurrilous that is:rolleyes:
