Thomsonfly.com launch - just one week away
Bournemouth Airport is gearing itself up for its busiest summer ever – thanks to the arrival of Thomsonfly.com

On 22nd March Thomsonfly.com will be starting flights to Majorca, Malaga, Valencia, Faro, Pisa, Paris and Amsterdam and with prices starting at just xxxnot advertisingxxxxxxxx (inclusive of all taxes and charges), it’s not surprising that to date more than 115,000 seats have been sold.

495,000 passengers passed through the terminal in 2004; thanks to Thomsonfly.com that figure is set to double this year.

In order to accommodate these extra passengers, the terminal building has undergone some major modifications which will greatly improve the facilities for those departing from, and arriving at, the airport.

The ‘land side’ part of the terminal now consists of 12 check-in desks, the bureau de change, WH Smith’s, an O’Brien’s Sandwich Bar and a seating area.
The ‘air side’ facilities for departing passengers now consist of the Food Village, a Bar des Voyageurs with views over the airfield; an improved duty free/tax free shop; additional toilet facilities, and comfortable seating for 700 passengers.
Arriving passengers will also see the benefits of these modifications. The immigration hall has been increased in size and a third baggage carousel has been installed in the arrivals hall. And those meeting passengers off flights will now have a dedicated ‘arrivals lounge’.

Are all the works finished then? Is there some kind of party or celebration planned for the launch?

Is Thomsonfly employing their own baggage handlers. If not hope the situation improves over what a couple of friends have experienced lately. For such a small operation when one could expect to get ones baggage and be out on your way home well within 30 mins, I have heard bad things lately. May be teething problems whilst installing second belt, or could it be staffing problems.

problems? haven't heard about any. All I've heard is that the work is a week ahead of schdule and has gone smoothly.

New routes rumoured to be announced in June to a whole range of places again from August/september as bookings have been so great.
