Here we go ... try this. Below is Dr. Phil's test.
(Dr. Phil scored 55 - he did this test on Oprah - she got 38.)
Some folks pay a lot of money to find this stuff out.

Read on, this is very interesting!

Don't be overly sensitive!

The following is pretty accurate and it only takes 2 minutes.

Don't peek, but begin the test as you scroll down and answer.

Answers are for who you are now...... not who you were
in the past. Have pen or pencil and paper ready.

This is a real test given by the Human Relations Dept.

at many of the major corporations today. It helps them

get better insight concerning their employees and prospective employees.

It's only 10 simple questions, so...... grab a pencil and paper!
Keep a note of your answers to work out your score.

5. When something really amuses you, you react with...

b) a laugh, but not a loud one

c) a quiet chuckle

d) a sheepish smile

6. When you go to a party or social gathering you...

a) make a loud entrance so everyone notices you

POINTS:

1. (a) 2 (b) 4 (c) 6

2. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 7 (d) 2 (e) 1

3. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 5 (d) 7 (e) 6

4. (a) 4 (b) 6 (c) 2 (d) 1

5.. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 2

9. (a) 7 (b) 6 (c) 4 (d) 2 (e) 1

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1

Now add up the total number of points.

OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should "handle
with care." You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely
dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't
always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine
everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always
sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Almost the same, timmcat ... 39 for me.

14th Mar 2005, 11:53
42, and still not convinced that you can analyse a complex thing like personality into a one-dimensional scale like this.

Where are all the axe-murderers ? Why do these things never have a category that says: "you're a total git, despised by all" ? :suspect:

40. Some may find that incredible, others will think it's spot on :D

49- either quite good or quite bad I don't really know. I think it's a bit simplistic.

Gainesy
14th Mar 2005, 13:45
46 but I have reservations about these sorts of "tests". In fact anything dreamt up by Human Remains folks.

Gainesy anything dreamt up by Human Remains folks.
Do yer mean that the HR folks are human enough to dream ?
:uhoh:
On second thoughts, even us moggies are supposed to have dreams (http://www.messybeast.com/catdream.htm) and some are even
working in HR (http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/dilbert/the_characters/html/character2.html#catbert)

Well I've lived with myself long enough to have a fairly good idea of who I am, mainstream 31-to-40 with a dash of 40-something flair and a soupcon of 20-something mediocrity.

So my score of 51 doesn't do wonders for my confidence in this exercise.

:hmm: 38 closer than I really like, but hey could be worse :)

AerBabe
14th Mar 2005, 16:37
34... but quite a few answers just didn't fit. It's all a best guess, innit. If you asked me again tomorrow I might make different best guesses and come out with 18. :hmm:

14th Mar 2005, 21:36
Had trouble answering some of those - if I were being pedantic (me?!) I'd have said "none of the above".

Score = 46. No idea if it describes me. Not sure I accept the test as valid, either.

aged
15th Mar 2005, 00:43
42 as well, seems to be a pattern here, something to do with people who lurk in Jetblast no doubt

Though as Aerbabe says, a few of them I could have got very different scores as none of the answers really fitted, so probably a range in reality, high 30's to mid 40's

If it matters

137! I need help!:ooh: Or a new calculator....no wait...42.

reynoldsno1
15th Mar 2005, 01:10
41 - but the results are null and void since the test has the words "Human Resources" attached to it - the biggest bunch of time wasting, self-interested, pseudo t*ssers I have ever come across - they make hairdressers look like an essential commodity. Sorry to beat about the bush......

Blacksheep
15th Mar 2005, 01:16
37.

Modest?

Really?

RaraAvis
15th Mar 2005, 04:21
38 --- well, think the loyalty part is really spot on but must admit never thought of myself as a modest one ... Perhaps there's hope for me yet ?

aged
15th Mar 2005, 04:36
reynoldsno1 - I'm not sure where you stand on HR people but personally I think they're t*ssers on average.
In fact the average is rather a large average bordering on majority.
Big majority at that.
Perhaps a score in the low 40's means such an opinion. Must ask one of them.

Wingswinger
15th Mar 2005, 07:05
47, but really I think psychologists are a dangerous bunch of nuts and they have a lot to answer for. They, along with sociologists, were always the butt of jokes when I was at university. Companies should drop this tosh.
