Hello everyone,

I am very keen to become a pilot within the Royal Navy, and i have my first stage interview in 2 days time. Having just come across this web-site, i was wondering if i could ask for some help from everyone.

Therefore can anyone answer a few questions for me please? What should i be expecting in the interview....ie formal grilling or informal chat? What sort of questions will i be asked? What should i be reading up on? Is there any books or web- sites worth reading beforehand? I know this seems silly but what should i wear?

I have 4 hours in a cessna 150, and i have come to realise that it is the life that i want for myself, so any help at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

HH

Me smells a rat!!

Is this a wind up? Just come across the site but registered in Nov 2004 and bless.. 4 hours in a cesspit as well... Oh and nearly forgot... interview in two days?

Not very well prepared are we!!

The search function is there... please, please use it!!

Mods, maybe this is the time to have the sticky with links to these ever repeated questions. I know we all had to start somewhere but the continuous posting of the same question is getting very tedious!!

No rat here.....i hadnt realised there was a miltary aircrew part to this site. Also its very expensive to pay for any other flying experience that isnt in a Cessna on my current wages.

What do you mean search?? If anyone can actually give me some REAL assistance, that would be very cool.

There is a search option at the bottom right of this forum's page. Type in "Navy Career" into that and 72 threads will come up, some of which are relevant to what you've asked.

HH..

If you can't find the search function on the top of the page (there's a clue there!) I doubt that you will make it as a pilot.

Just use the search function and see just how many times the same question has been asked in the past six months!!

And as I said, if you want to know what to read up on at this stage, with your interview in two days time, I suggest it's a little too late.

Might be worth brushing up on your English too.

What was that saying...

Me thinks you're punching above your weight and that you might want to adapt your approach and attitude before you start flying training...(by the way even if you're a complete sky god the beefers will still chop you on attitude if you're a complete git!) notwithstanding the fact you have AIB/Aptitude tests?Dartmouth and the rest to get through.
It's not necessarily what you're asking that offends more the way you ask it and your subsequent reaction to it...DP is absolutely right and even a little bit kind in his reply (compared to the torrent you would/will get from some in the aviation instruction world). With your interviews in 2 days though...good luck chumpster.

I was just hoping to ask a few questions ......thought that's what this site is for...... had not expected bad vibes and snobery

It's not bad vibes and snobbery, it's the fact that the same question has been asked time, after time, after time.

With just a little more thought and application, a quick search will reveal enough information to blow your mind.

You're obviously quite young and immature, you can see that from your responses but it's time to grow up old son. It's a big bad world out here and as Axel suggests, IF you get through the first interview, it's going to get a hell of a lot worse!!

I wish you luck, I think you're going to need it.

And, as I suggested, take a close look at your English, my name is spelt Phugoid! (IF you get through, you might even get to learn what it means!) :E :E :E

Dont worry HH there will be a couple of muppets on at some point called Totalwar or Hyd3failure that will start spouting the Navy corporate communications propaganda..........By the sounds of it you will get on well with them:ok:

Jeez guys you can be hard. Mind you it's comforting to know that there's still reality out there where a spade can be called a bl**dy shovel.
Best of luck Hh, it is a very tough world you wish to join and it's useful to get used to plain talking earlier rather than later.:ok:

Should give you an insight to begin with...

Don't say people aren't helpful...and all the posts above seem rather fair IMO... Prooner's here have been very helpful to me, just make sure you leave your attitude at the door!

Best of luck.. but look into the RAF!

If you're fed up with the same questions being asked DONT READ THEM AND THEN REPLY EACH TIME! Is that a simple solution or are you compelled to post on the thread and wind yourself up?

Give the guy a break!!!!! If that is how you bring your "seedlings" on then it is no wonder you have a recruiting and retention crisis. HH, ignore the banter, follow the links above and good luck. If you don't succeed first time just learn the lessons and go back again. That will show the AIB you are determined and willing to learn.

VCR, I think the answer is they're compelled to post, but unfortunately for enjoyment! :ugh:

What's the point in knocking people down before they've even begun? You pompus load of gits! :) A lot of you comment on the original poster's attitude and maturity, when it's clear that your own leaves a lot to be desired to be honest! Those in glass houses shouldn't... ...

Nice one joe2812, for taking a more constructive approach!

Harveyhudson, good luck with your interview!
