PARA Paul Biddiss is suing top brass for £1million over his stricken son — in a case which could rock the Army.

His lawyers claim his family fell victim to a bullying campaign aimed at saving a fortune in pension payments.

If the corporal wins, 1400 serving and ex-servicemen could follow his lead. His case centres on Manning Control, in which soldiers who signed on for up to 22 years are asked to switch to short-term contracts - losing pension benefits as a result. Some say they have been tricked or threatened with the sack to force them to switch.

Cpl Biddiss, serving in NI, refused. His lawyers say when son Chandler was born two-months premature he was Refused permission to go on leave to England despite urgent medical advice.

Wife Debbie, caring for Chandler and their four other sons alone, had to take the tot outside at just a few days old,. He contracted meningitis, and is blind and handicapped.

Explosive allegations have now been made against top officers. And the high court is to be asked to rule Manning Control unlawful. Cpl Biddiss, now at RAF Brize Norton is forbidden from talking about his case. But former 3 Para clerk L/Cpl Michael Vaughan told Channel 4 News in an interview to be screened tonight that his treatment was "disgusting".
