Hello... here's one for you all....

Running a home network... all the PCs are running XP Home.

One of the PCs upstairs is dedicated to running a weather station.. weather data is saved on an external unit which communicates with the PC vis the COM1 serial port.

I want to run the weather program from another PC on the network - however the program looks for the serial port connection on the PC on which it is running ... which means that I cant run it properly remotely.

Any brains out there can tell me how I can get round this?
Almost certainly involves logging onto the remote PC from another PC - I know this has been done on Windows 2000 server with Terminal services Client or something - but cant see how to do this on XP Home Edition.

Can anyone help?

Ta...

Do you actually need to RUN it on the remote PC or just see the output?

If the latter, try using windows remote assistance (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/remoteassist/intro.mspx) or VNC (www.realvnc.com)

Best regards

Downloaded VNC - works a treat!

Thank you!
