Gentlemen:

Learn from other people, as we will not last long enough to make all the mistakes ourselves.

Again, taken from Mr. Marty Levitt's website.

Recently, the pilots at Airborne banded together in a sign of support for one of their terminated brethren. Why does management take actions such as singling a pilot out for termination, when they know they run the risk of turning him in to a martyr?
Isn't management playing with fire when they do this? Throughout my thirty years in the labor relations' field, I have consistently found that management in the airline and aviation related industries perceive themselves as almost "God-like." Even though most of America's corporate management have unwarranted superiority complexes, management in airlines, etc. apparently eat from the same plate. The meal they ingest is a blend of ignorance, fear, greed, and ego. This diet feeds their never ending obsession for complete control over all subordinate employees and, pilots are among their favorite victims, perhaps because of the fact pilots generally display professionalism and self-discipline. The matter at Airborne
Is not unusual. A pilot challenged management authority (control), and this was considered intolerable behavior. The company is not concerned about creating a martyr because they do not believe the pilots can remain unified long enough to create a serious threat. Furthermore, since pilots are covered by the Railway Labor Act rather than the
National Labor Relations Act, they have no procedure for "unfair labor practices." The NMB is not designed for that.
Their only recourse is the judicial system, which is very costly and time consuming. The only way the pilots' Union can give management "indigestion" from its daily diet and secure positive results is to engage in significant job actions, stick with those actions, and most important, stay unified.

The more you educated yourself, the more accurate decision will be made.

Keep yourself, and your spouse, educated.

Stay Unified and please vote.
