Nice link, shame about the unnecessary apostrophe in

"its undercarriage"

The aircraft might have survived and bee able to make an emergency landing elsewhere except, I understand, that the crash switches operated preventing the pilots from flying the aircraft.

PN, I started the thread to illustrate the guys spectacular RAF Career rather than the Vulcan incident ..... but I do agree on your point re the apostrophe .... how well you spotted it :p
