I flew in for it last year. It was combined with an air race meeting, which has a pretty poor spectator appeal.

The display day was:
small but friendly atmosphere.
V few interesting aerojumble type stands
interesting opportunity to see a WW2 airfield that has not been too mucked about with.
Very picturesque location.
Display was alright, but not as big scale as the big mainaland shows.
RAF presence limted to 2 GR4's as far as I can remember.

Had to leave slightly early cos huge winds were getting up.

If the weather is good, it is a good destination, and the fells looke brilliant for somw quiet walking.

Have fun

Ive been for the last 2 years, the Sat last year was the better day as very high winds accross the active runway severly curtailed the display on the Sunday. Due to this and poor weather elsewhere the air race was cancelled as most participants wished to get away to their home destinations asap.

Very friendly and they put a huge effort into this event. Theres usually some RAF aircraft (Seen Hawk, Tornado, Jag and Harrier), Utt Butts, P51's, Spit Sea Vixen, Sky Raider, Venom and F86 etc etc have all been there. The 2 P51's in the air race were quite intresting!!!

The aero jumble side is weak but access to the aircraft and pilots is good as most seem to mingle quite happily.
