Does anyone have information regarding Saudi Arabian Airlines? Do they hire direct to the left seat? What is the current situation in SA? do you feel safe in Jeddah?

They have a requirement to hire Captains for the B747C and MD90, but somehow that requirement never translates into actual hiring.

Current situation? Hard to answer, havent had any terrorist activity since the US Consulate was attacked, but that means nothing, things could change overnight.

Safe from what? Terrorists? or just safe walking the streets? Either way, the answer is "kinda". :)

They have had 747 Direct hire Captains listed on the past 3 courses.
The problem is with the visa.
It takes so long to obtain that by the time it is approved then most of them have found jobs elsewhere.
If you have done the medical and have been offered a job, stick with it.
But they only hire high time previously qualifed people, on the expat side.
Unless you have the wide body PIC time then you are wasting your time applying.
Call them once a month to get an update concerning the visa.
With the Saudiazation program these are hard to get now days.
It took me 11 months.
Too many Saudis are out of work, but they cannot find qualified crewmembers in the local area.
If you really want to come here then stay on them.
Its not HR"S fault it"s the government.
With the past events last year most backed out on their own.
If the fanatics go away this is a good job
Qaulity time with family included at no extra charge.
Medical Insurance and other airlinne discounted tickets, ID 90 etc.
This is why I returned here..( quality family time )
Not as in some companies that you go home after 3 months on base with no pay.
And these guys operate by the books.
No bullshXXT here.
If you are not legal to fly then its no questions asked.
You dont have to worry about losing your job for refusing.
Pay is according to contract, sometimes the O/T and expenses is delayed due to paperwork, but if its in your contract then you get it.
Not like the crew leasing agents where as they sate yes its in your contract but if the airline wont pay us then we wont pay you. Or they have a verbal agreement with the airline not to pay this, never notifing you or giving you a new contract reflecting the changer.
Been there done that, you wont see this here.
The culture takes a little patience to get used to.
Nothing happens quick here.
If you have the patience and the qualifications then this is a good place.

Do they hire into their VIP fleet - the Gulfstreams, BBJs, VIP 747SPs, etc. or do you need to be a national for those? Can you work in Suadi but still reside in Europe (one month on one month off...)?
