Oh now I see why I'm taking another pay cut in July......poor old Adrian's down to his last £1000 million +. It now makes sense that we and the shareholders should help him survive on such a paltry amount.

Dear Sir;

You appear to be looking up the ladder. Take a moment to turn and look down. I am not talking about the B scalers, or anybody else who may be fortunate enough to even be on the ladder, ... but I refer to the 100 million + children that face death ever year as a result of stravation and the conditions in which they live.

I hope that as part of your theme to "spread the wealth", you perhaps sponsor one child, or more (!) through one of the many organisations that specialise in this area.

Thank you for your time, ... and now on with the ranting and raving.

Ram, Perhaps you should direct your post at Mr. Swire too!...(his conduct has shown him to be undeserving of any 'title')

Mr. RAM, allow me to express my sincere displeasure at your post, which basically addresses all of us, and the implication that because I am concerned for my own welfare I am oblivious to the plight of my fellow man. This impugns us in a way that is completely unjustified. Personally I have always given what I consider to be a fair share of my income to charitable causes and will continue to do so, regardless of how high or low that income goes. By extension then, the more I earn the more I will give. I think I am safe in saying that many people feel the same way.

You are merely trying to muddy the waters.

Rambler,
Its a joke, a dig, its not personnal. Well done for giving what you do. Charity above all! But when the company, ergo Swire, return huge profits how do they, (Cathay/Swire)justify what they have done and are doing to us? You may never be on the receipt of charity, but that depends on how you fare today!

Thanks BOLTER. The message I interpreted was to stop bleating about our own misfortune when there are so many others more unfortunate than we. That will always be the case no matter where one is on the ladder but it certainly shouldn't stop one from striving to better one's condition.

I have no idea the extent to which Swires makes provision for charitable causes so I cannot comment but I have to say that Cathay has demonstrated a degree of community concern in the past and I'd like to hope that it isn't all a publicity stunt.

Just how much of a stake do the Swires have now in Cathay Pacific?
