New airline to fly from Brisbane
ECO Airlines will begin jet air services from Brisbane to the Central Pacific this month.
ECO will initially provide service on a weekly, unscheduled charter basis on two routes.
One service will operate Brisbane to Pohnpei in the Federal States of Micronesia, with a stopover in the Solomon Islands' capital Honiara. It is planned for this service to be extended to Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands.
The other service will take passengers from Brisbane to Tarawa, the main atoll of Kiribati, then on to Majuro in the Marshall Islands.
Aircraft will be configured to provide 60 passenger seats, as well as cargo.
ECO Airlines said it was aiming to provide a premium economy class product for the developing business, government and community based service to the region, as well as building the leisure travel market to cater specifically for the dive, surfing and ecotourism sectors.
During the next 12 months ECO Airlines plans to extend its network to include other destinations in Oceania. - Travelpress travel news
