LANCASTER, Pa. -
A helicopter crashed onto its side as it lifted off the ground to reposition itself on the tarmac at Lancaster Airport, officials said.
The pilot was treated at a hospital for a minor head injury and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. A neighboring hangar also was damaged by flying debris, an airport official said. No one else was injured.
The pilot, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as Leslie A. Jones of York, was the only person on board the Bell Ranger 206 helicopter when it crashed Tuesday afternoon, an airport official said.
The airport was closed briefly for takeoffs and landings following the accident, airport director David Eberly said.
