No. The number of ATCOs on contract is still reducing.

Depends more on the political climate; swings from 'localise asap' to 'short again', much like any other employer.

I don't think any Civil Service has good contact numbers :)

You might try and get in contact with some of those who left recently in other forums for more info.

Rumor is that they will be short of controllers next year. Bets are already being laid that they will be recruiting/advertising before year end...and yet an Ossie left yesterday. Even tho he wanted to stay he could not get a contract extension, and there are another 4 or 5 due to depart before years end.
There was suppposed to be a staff review carried out in January so that a whole bunch of guys whose contracts end in April '02 will have some reasonable notice as to what the future holds for them. Nothing heard yet and latest rumor is that the review has not yet been done...which probably means X-mas before anybody hears anything ...plenty of time to find another job....NOT!

Been out of touch for a couple of days, but what interesting replies! Sounds like a lot the contract issues in a lot of places (see for example the AUH thread on ATC issues). Really keen to work at CLK, though. Dad's HK Chinese if anyone knows whether that would help residency-wise.
