I agreed with "Thrust". Every S/O's vote, at any EGM, is EQUAL to every other member. That includes C&T's, A-scale, B-scale, etc.
The S/O's have the most to gain in the upcoming remuneration and benefits talks. We need more JF/O’s and S/O’s to speak up for what they believe in. One thing that comes to mind is: Why do we have JF/O’s anyway? Ask yourself, why did the aircraft crash? The JF/O screwed up. Well, why is he a JF/O and not a F/O? Well the company says that he is not qualified to act as a F/O until he gets some experience as a JF/O. We all know it is to screw the Junior guys out of the money and the benefits that they deserve. Just like B-scale getting paid less than an A-scale counterpart for the same job. You are either qualified to do the job or you are not qualified to do the job. END.
It is about time the WE told the company what we want through the AOA. We have to go for ONE-SCALE AND BENEFITS. When Nick says no, WE step up the pressure. When he says no again, WE step up the pressure. When he says no again, WE step up more pressure. They can only take so much pressure before it all come crashing down.
Would the shareholders want to see a $5,000,000,000.00 cash cow go to ruins? Do the shareholders want to shoot the goose that lays the golden egg? I think not. It has worked for our United States counterparts. I know this is not the U.S., but the principles remain the same.
The AOA has a focus meeting on the 22nd of March, tomorrow. So JF/O’s and S/O’s get up and make yourself heard. I hope to see everybody there.

Regards Bengi 25

Good Post benji25

As a prospective S/O F/O these your resolutions should be the minimum accepted. The junior ranks need to speak out as you say. They also need the support of thier peers to do so. Not to say that they are not receiving it, it is just a statement. We are currently going through the a similar situation at my present company. A " work to rule" (no O/T, letter of the contract)stand was taken by our membership recently and the results were positive. We received a increase in COS. It seems to be short term as things are beginning to slide again. The company relies on O/T and thusly does not hire enough crew. Which leads to less time off and lower quality of life. . Posturing by THE COMPANY on financial woes as contract talks are under way. The membership is getting ready to take a no overtime position and perform to the letter of the contract.

I look forward to hearing the results of the focus meeting.

Cheers

Does anyone think that this will happen until the jets are on the ground?

Fact is, many of the S/O's are still new to the company and are (justifiably) a little nervous about taking direct action. Many are still under probation and we all know that the management would just love to make an example of someone to put the ****z up them and make them toe the line. So, although they have much to gain, they also have alot to lose. Therefore, it's up to the more senior guys to carry the load a little on this one. Many are of the opinion it is the senior guys who dropped the ball in the first place. Now, before I get many nasty comments about having a gun placed to their head (which many did in years gone by), lets just face the reality. The senior guys are the ones with the power to stand up to a management who are intent on maximising their OWN profits and don't give a **** about anyone else. Remember, they are playing for their OWN survival - look at the mess they have created for the company.

Just imagine the increase in profits through better pilot utilisation and reduced cancellation of flights if we were one big happy family. I'm afraid that a few years of absolute penny pinching is finally catching up with the (mis)management types.

I leave it to the senior guys (especially the Captains) to set the examples and lead the way over the next few months.
