Just got my roster. I am top bid this for Feb and got exactly nothing I bid for.... So whats the use of having such a fancy system that does not work! Also, just the minimum number of days off - they just continue to piss people off :yuk:

Well - apart from the fact the rosters are ONLY just out:mad: , I got every trip that I bid for!! Top bid as well. Maybe you're screwing up the bidding somewhere:confused:
PM me if you want some good hints for next time:ok:

Bluggs, mate just try and keep your sense of humour in this sh@thole and dont let the ink dry out on ya Resume. You will certainly get to have the last laugh one day.

Manual adjustment, what manual adjustment ????, that cant be done on the new system. What a bloody circus.

Holy Shat White Knight, I have to look at your roster more often, as it makes me feel a lot better about mine now. Thought we were to get a min of 8 days off per month (or is that 31 day month only?)? Think you are 1 short.

Did you ask for the MAA and SAH?

Didn't someone say that we would not be expected to cram a full rosters flying into the remaining days after leave?

Hope you get mucho overtime from this one....would have been better under old rules I guess.

Don

Actually I did ask for SAH - haven't been for 18 months so thought I'd take a look see again. I'm not 1 day short on the days off 'cos I've got 5 days leave in the 28 day month. And having had 11 days rostered off this month plus 5 days leave and still getting 12 hours overtime (what I very sadly ask for:{ ) I don't think my biddings working out too badly.

ALTHOUGH - bottom in march so that will be crappy:} :}

Hey WK, I guess Don knows something you don't know. This could be fun, eh Don!

Middle bid and got one flight that I wanted but not much else. Old system would have given me 16 hours OT, the new gives zippo. I used to like to take 4 days off here and there but with our new T&Cs that just stiffs you. You just get a full months flying squeezed into the 3 weeks you have at work. It is now counterproductive to take small blocks of leave!

Looking at the rosters the 340 seems to be flying just about to max, 7 days off and nearly 100 hours seems common even in a 28 day month. Even worse for me is that there are a lot more nights spent down route on 5 day trips.

Seems that the company has decided that paying OT beats getting an extra pilot; so we will all be working much harder in the future. Better for bank balance but sucks for quality of life. We have a couple of guys that have been trying to escape the 340 but it is a black hole that never lets you out once you have qualified. The augmented credit rules means that some guys are doing well over 100 hours a month and are turning into zombies.

Got to go to bed, never know when I'll next see it.

Ghostflyer, I have to agree with you, the company sucks as do the T&C's, however, the new system still gives you credit for leave ie. 2.5hrs per day with respect to monthly flying.

So if you have 10 days leave, 25hrs will go towards your monthly total, so they won't try to squeeze a full months work into 20'ish days, but as you say I'm sure the co. will screw around with it somehow.

Yes taking leave during a month does screw up the OT as most of us need to do to supplement the meagre salary.

Sluggums,

Wrong!! This month I have 8 days leave. That means that I should be targeting 76 hrs credit in a 28 day month. My roster has 90 hours credit so they are fitting extra duties into the 3 weeks I am at work.

Sluggums, you are partially correct. The roster build will give you 2.5 hours credit for each day of leave. However, it will happily build you a 100 hour roster when you have leave, meaning if you have 10 days leave, you have 75 hours flying crammed into 21 days (31 day month). And under the new T & C's you don't get paid overtime. Under the old T & C's, it was highly unlikely you would see a 100 credit hour roster when you had 10 days leave. I have seen this happen. A colleague had 21 days leave spread over two 31 day months, and nearly 100 credit hours for each of those months. Glad AAR assured us that this would not happen under the new T & C's :ok:

Ghostflyer, chill dude, as my post said,

"but as you say I'm sure the co. will screw around with it somehow."

but that's happening whether you take holidays or not, I am well into overtime without taking any leave.

Believe Brother, absolutely right.

All I know is that the social scene has crumbled...... it's difficult to find any of the gang available for froffy chops now as they are either on a 12 hour shonk turnaround and stuffed after the last 6 days flying or lost in Lygon St. on a 10 day extravaganza in the Antipodes!

Sniffle...gone have the days.......

Hey Fox you may have to socialise with us lowly ATCers instead!!! I mean what have the flyboys got that we don't have...other than nice cars...nice flats....lotsa money....interesting lives...sun tans... hmmm ok but we can always sit around comparing sequencing skills!!! or lack thereof as the case may be. ;)

Actually you are right mate, I have neglected to spend more time in my local environs with my cohorts and I do regeret that....but I am not convinced anybody wants share my company in the glittering surrounds of Najda st and savour the smells of the strategically postioned industrial bins, whilst side stepping the spittle and gunge on the way to the magnificent fish curry smelling foyer of the Burj Al Rumaithy.....
