Heard in the lift in Manchester that Air Atlanta were circling My Travel with a view to taking them over. Anybody else heard this?

Yeah, yeah - and Astraeus as well (in another thread). Just waiting for someone to overhear yet another rumour (presumably in another lift) that CC will buy BA !!

Having said that, MyTravel wouldn't be a bad buy, now that all the debts have been written off !??

Could be true though. Atlanta have a habit of 'leaking' such news prior to any official announcements.

Good luck to them !

It wasn't so long ago that MYT took over from Airtours.

I recall in September though they ran out of aircraft. A Finnair 757-200 was used to replace the My Travel Aircraft on the Rimmini Run, That another takeover, doesn't Finnair operate Air Scandic, or Scandic owns Finnair...?

ARRRGGG!!!! Will somebody PLEASE just admit to owning this company! It's getting confusing!!!!

Simple, MyTravel is owned by MyTravel, or rather was! I think it is owned by the banks now!!!

Skylark,

Myt has used the Finnair 75 as a sby a/c for a couple of years now and it flys flat out at the weekends - so nothing sinister in it doing a RMI ! MYT may not have any debt but for Air Atlanta to take it over it would still need to pay the banks a shedfull of cash !

I know this thread is about MyTravel but just to correct an earlier post Air Scandic is privately owned, it is not owned by Finnair. Air Scandic just dry leased the A300s (now sold) from them. Scandic did do a lot of work last season for MyTravel on one of the 757s that were wet leased from Finnair for the summer season. The 75s leased remain in Finnair colours instead of having Scandics because the aircraft are rotated throughout the summer.

Used to be if you held a MT share the you had erm... a share in MT. Now it ain't so simple as the debt that the firm had has been 'written off' (i.e. exchanged for ownership) by the banks. what that really means (i think) is that its not just the shareholders who own MT now, but the shareholders & the banks. This may well mean that in the future your 100 MT shares will become 1 or maybe 10.
Check with a friendly stockbroker is my advice but I'm glad i've turfed mine out!
