Below is an extract from a recent Northwest Airlines press release.

Are these people on the same planet ?

“jointly established a no-fault safety program” “collaborative, mutually beneficial relationship” “reduced bargaining time frame” “number of pilot grievances to the lowest point ever”

....but these Pilots were on strike not even 2 years ago! Look where it got them - they won’t be making that mistake again in a hurry ;)

Northwest and ALPA also agreed to each develop a limited list of issues to be included in negotiations in order to facilitate a reduced bargaining time frame.

"We have listened to our pilots and they have clearly indicated a desire for an on-time agreement which meets their needs,'' said [ALPA] MEC Chairman Mark McClain. "We are pleased that Northwest management is willing to join us in taking this important step toward achieving that goal.''

"This is the latest example of the collaborative, mutually beneficial relationship our two organizations have established over the last two years,'' said Bob Brodin, Northwest senior vice president - labor relations. "During that time, we have reduced the number of pilot grievances to the lowest point ever, jointly established a no-fault safety program and strengthened both our formal and informal lines of communication; these are very positive developments for everyone.''
