Does private sponsorship happen and if so on what grounds?

I have been desperate to start ATPL for some time now but have been unable to secure funding for the course. I'm well eduacated, young, passionate and dedicated but without a financial way forward the former has little effect.

The most common and relied upon way of funding ATPL training in this country is the HSBC professional studies loan (God bless HSBC), that is unless you find yourself in a possition like me where you have no security to lodge against the loan, ie parents house etc... Given this situation they are likely to give the time of day.

Are there any other ways forward in these circumstances?

GAPAN have an ATPL scholarship. The 2004 one is closed, but I imagine the 2005 one will open up in February

GAPAN (http://www.gapan.org)

And if you are female, the BWPA offer £2000 scholarship towards an ATPL
