Hi

If anyone could point me in the direction of a decent PDF writer/converter program, I would be very grateful. I want to produce PDF's from document and TIFF files, but really can't afford to push to Adobe Acrobat.

I am hoping to be able to produce from multiple files with the ability to bookmark and secure the finished PDF document. I have googled the web, but there are so many out there, I don't really know where to start.

Many thanks

Go to www.fineprint.com

You can download a trial version for free, then just send 'em your card details to have the fineprint tag disappear from the bottom of each document.

When you install the software, it's just like another printer, but it invites you to save the resulting file instead.

I've used this one for years at home and it works like a charm. I've got Acrobat writer at work and for simple .pdf creation fineprint does the job just as well for a fraction of the cost.

The fineprint printer dialogue is pretty good, too, if you want to do booklets etc.

Usual disclaimer about not having anything to do with fineprint applies!

Try a google (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=free+pdf+file+converter&meta=) search there seems plenty there.

Try PDF995 at http://www.pdf995.com/
It costs $9.95 to register!! Just FILE/PRINT to it, save it as.pdf wherever you like and away you go!
Otherwise, if you scan a lot of docs and save them, eg logbooks etc, then Paperport is great ( http://www.scansoft.com/)

Far be it for me to recommend software piracy, but if possible I do like to try expensive software before lashing out loadsa money on it. So I borrowed an original copy of Adobe Acrobat and tried it. I found it a massive consumer of resources - it slowed down my machine considerably and caused all sorts of nuisance and interference with my MS Word programme. I uninstalled it; for all the use it was I'd never bother buying it. Open Office works fine for saving as PDF.

Anyone found a way of converting .PDF to Excel spreadsheet without it costing an arm and a leg?

Cheers!
