I'm trying to get hold of an iPod now that my Creative Zen has been returned but am struggling. Given the current exchange rate of £-$ I can get a 40GB one from Apple for about the same as a 20GB one here.

However will I experience any problems with the iPod when using UK mains to charge and when plugging it into the laptop?

you will need a us 2 pin to uk 3 pin mains adaptor plug, or you can cut the us plug off and fit a uk one. the power supply is good for 50/60 Hz and 110/230Volts

USB is same power supply.

I have a North American model. I just charge it thru the firewire connection.

I Have bought a 20gb i-pod and a mini i-pod from North America. You can slide off the two prong american plug and this will reveal a standard 2 pin socket as used by video recorders/ sky plus boxes battery chargers etc. It's already a 50/60Hz 110/220v adaptor so you can just plug in the UK mains lead.
