Spent a few hours at Waddo today, an Nimrod R1 tuck off just after I got their went off for about an hour, then came back and did loads of touch and goes and fast passes etc, I like the Nimrod so enjoyed all that.
Also an Awack did a couple of circuits before landing and a King Air was flying around for a bit.
Just as I was going a Harrier, Canberra, and another King Air turned up. The Harrier landed immediately, the Canberra did a couple of fast passes over the runway and went off again, the King Air was still flying around after I went.

Anyway a very nice few hours, and a good start to 2005, here are a few photos.

Nimrod ready to take off.

"Some lovely shots of barbed wire and fencing there. Congrats"

Thats the problem when taking photos at an airbase, their tends to lots of the stuff around, no idea why :)

Perhaps a taller stepladder is needed? A Defence Writing Refresher may also be useful ("their" and "there", "Awack" and "AWACS"). Whoops, I only achieved a "C" at ISSC anyway!:\

Good stuff. Don't let the p*ss takers put you off taking more.

Agree Navaleye, however, this IS a military AIRCREW forum and as such I think we know what military aircraft look like.

Maybe a better forum, where the pictures would be more appreciated and less p!$$ taken, would be the 'spotters corner' one :ok:

straightnotlevel, The Nimrod is still the biggest fighter in the world! - sleep well

Mad_Mark, I don't think it does any harm to remind us where our money is being spent. What's a Nimrod doing at Waddo anyway?

Navaleye What's a Nimrod doing at Waddo anyway? That is where these Nimrods are usually based. See the RAF Waddington internet website.
No p*** taking from me, Heck I like photos of trains too for gawds sake!:ok:

Thanks Navaleye.

Mad_Mark, yes maybe I should have posted in the spotters forum, and I will do next time as I go to Waddo fairly often.

My photos ain't the best by a long way, but I ain't been doing this very long and am still learning. That said when my telephoto lens comes later this month things should improve.

Toddington Ted, nothing wrong with taking photos of trains, if thats what you enjoy go for it. Not my cup of tea but we all have our own interests and hobbies.

Its an open forum if the mods do not like whats being posted I am sure they are more than capable of moving/deleting a post.

I like looking at piccys of aircraft anyway...

Skeleton, agree but if it come s to 'the mods deleting' then it may well have arrived as a serious issue. This on the other hand is more of a 'chad valley' issue. As in 'why the **** are you posting dullness on this forum?'. Not exactly the need for a trouble shooter/moderator.

Sorry to sound so frank but your pictures are sub standard (if I wish to view photos of aircraft at Waddo, I'll visit airliners.com or take phots of myself) and if you are just a keen civvy with a fond interest in the mil then just browse rather than post please. If on the other hand you wish to join the mil, may I suggest visiting the Careers office in Lincoln. Thanks in advance. This site has already moved towards a union collective without the need of further niff, naff and trivia.

That said when my telephoto lens comes later this month things should improve.Unfortunately, you will learn that a telephoto lens is just a magnifier, it magnifies the errors, and will probably make your photos worse. Technique is what you need to learn, not just a blurred closer view of barbed wire.

Go have a look at www.airliners.net (http://www.airliners.net). On their aviation photography forum they have some excellent posts regarding aircraft photography techniques and useful tips for image editing along with the thousands of quality pics of all kinds of flying machinery.

Get a grip man, there's nothing wrong in posting some pics you've taken to get some feedback and handy tips/advice. Calling them sub-standard is just ignorant and childish - like yousaid if you want to see photos of planes you'll go elsewhere, so why come here? Why look at this thread? Hell, why  comment at all? The subject even says 'Waddo Photos'...

Andrewman, enjoyed the photos, nice to see what's happening at other camps from a non-official point of view. :ok:

Yes well I brought a massive book about taking photos and how to do it etc last weekend, plenty of stuff to learn in their so thats gonna help.

Also got a polarizing filter.

I still think the telephoto lens will help, by improving my technique and getting more close up photos, then the end result can only get better.

Oh and I have some decent software now, just done some photo editing, before and after shots can be found below.

Just a pity that heavily cropping a picture doesn't sharpen the blurry bits of the image.
