Following the link from the latest Flight Safety Australia magazine, I logged in to the CASA exemptions roster.

I was kind of surprised to see the number of them , 13000 odd.

(includes variations, approvals etc. dating back to 97)

Tis all part of the regulatory review process.

CASA is bumping and grinding its way towards its own version of regulatory utopia - the main aim being clear, simple, easily understood regulations.

The end state will see the voluminous and anachronistic aviation regulations simplified into just two rules :

RULE 1 : No one may, under any circumstances, fly any kind of flying machine.

RULE 2 : CASA may, in its absolute discretion, issue exemptions to Rule 1.

Hmmm... so I guess this means that I won't be able to get any exemptions from DOTARS then.... :ooh:
