Know it happens all the time,probably any airline, but notice period sucks. In my case 3 days before,with bookings being made and deposits etc which are not reclaimable, and am NOT happy. I do have a family you know. How do you explain it to them????? It's not surprising GF pilots going elsewhere. A personal explaination to tell you and ask you to help out would very often be sufficient, don't want to read it on the system, but no directive from Management can qualm the lambashing from your missus can it? Everything you have planned from leave granted over a year ago, just has to go out the window???? NOT GUYS Especially at short notice. I got that and it's not good for my marriage which is hard enough anyway.Pilot shortages are ongoing and not planned by any-one, but that is a Management problem not the pilots, Play with me and my family, my family WIN ALWAYS!!!!!!!! . Otherwise I leave as many others have done. Perhaps some of you guys that think you rule our lives might THINK the big picture sometime. After all, you do not have the skills we have. We don't have yours either, but without pilots you are up the creek without a paddle., if you want this airline as I do to run properly, better treatment would be in order. This is not personal against anyone, maybe just to point a different perspective. CRM works for ALL of us I think.
