Check out the 'icbirmingham' web site - news is that £1 million has been set aside for payment in leiu of notice for all staff, that equals about £2,600 each.

Its a shame 3 certain people are entilted to the same pay out as the workers after such a cock up & lining their own pockets
( allegedly ) !!!

Merry Christmas to all Ex Duo Staff (minus 3)

£1 million for staff of failed airline Dec 19 2004

BUDGET airline workers who lost their jobs when their Birmingham firm went bust have won a £1 million Christmas pay-out.

Around 380 employees, including cabin crew and office staff, were made redundant overnight when Duo Airways Limited was placed into administration in May.

The company, which operated from Birmingham International and Edinburgh Airports, had crashed - owing around £14 million to more than 500 creditors.

Now Amicus union bosses have won an employment tribunal test case to ensure all former staff receive their statutory entitlement of 90 days pay in lieu of notice.

It works out at around £1 million in total, or around £2,600 for each employee.

Duo Airways Ltd was formed in November 2003 after a management team bought out former airline Maersk.

The new company boasted six planes, which travelled to Continental cities including Paris and Milan, and had 320 employees based in Birmingham and 60 in Scotland.

But the budget firm went bust in May, leaving Duo workers jobless and more than 1,000 Midland holidaymakers stranded abroad.

The 500 creditors have since been warned by administrators that they can expect to receive just 5p in every pound of debt.

But last week workers won a festive payout when their union went to an industrial tribunal to prove the company broke employment law by not telling them about the administration - and not paying them 90 days notice wages.

The Birmingham tribunal chairman, Mr David Dimbylow, said that the union claims had been well-founded and awarded all former Duo employees 90 days' protective awards.

So what happened to our £2600???? I got half that! I haven't heard of anyone who got £2600. So what happens to the rest of the money in this pot?

Surely it should be shared out!
