Got this email from EK today, I just wanna know what are the chances of getting an interview if you recieved this kind of letter. Any comments would be appreciated.

"I am writing in relation to your application to join Emirates as Flight
Crew. We have now had the opportunity to review your application.

We have placed your application in the Hold pool. Each time we need
candidates for an interview program, we review the Hold pool to select the
most suitable. From time to time as the Hold pool gets too large, some
candidates will drop out of the bottom and will be advised their application
has been unsuccessful. Being in the Hold pool does not guarantee an
interview as market forces ultimately determine who is at the top of the
pool."

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to stop dreaming that someday EK's going to call me for an interview.
I don't have the experience that their looking for but if they hire me, they are going to hire 2 professionals instead of one because my wife is a nurse and I heard that there is a shortage of nurses in the Middle East. As I said before, I'm not holding my breath.
:ugh:

Just so you know nurses work 6 days a week and are paid SE Asia wages. Doctors just got a 30% pay raise,don't know if that means anything to the rest ot the health care employees

Hi folks

After one and a half years in the pool I recently received the following letter;

Dear Capt ....,

I am writing in relation to your application to join Emirates as a Direct Entry Captain. We have now had the opportunity to review your application.

Unfortunately, Emirates has no requirement for Direct Entry Captains at present. Should our operational needs change, our website will be updated to reflect our new requirements and we will advertise in the aviation press.

If you wish to be considered for a position as a First Officer, our minimum requirements are:

First Officers
* Applicants must be 48 years of age or less
* A minimum total time of 4000 hours, including 2000 hours as a pilot of multi-crew, multi-engined jet aircraft
* Experience commensurate with age
* ICAO ATPL

If you are eligible to apply, please amend your application to reflect your interest in this position. Please change the Position applied to reflect First Officer then email us at [email protected] once you have done this.

Best wishes in your career and personal endeavours and thank you for your interest in Emirates.

Yours sincerely,

Tania Atkins
Recruitment Manager

As I'm looking only for the DEC program, looks like I'll have to swim a little bit more:{

...So sad news...

From the previous posts I can assume we are players on the same league.
Though we have similar experience level, backgrounds and ages, I did not received that email yet. But I know it is a matter of time, as I am on the pool for the same amount of time.
I will not consider an FO offer as well.

But, if I can give my pint of salt, there is a bright future ahead for plus 10,000 hr, heavy metal skippers at least.
And this is not a good pension for a while...
Believe me.

Best regards!

Hi there ff, you right and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

BDD

I have been flying professionally for 27 years, 25 with my current employer, +16K total time with +10K PIC (B777/MD11/DC10/B727/L188). When I first applied to EK I was not rated on the 777 (550 hrs now).

Happy 2005 :ok:

Seaman,

Here's my current situation:
1)FO forever for a regional airline in the US
2)Making US$30,000/ year
3) Flying a regional jet
4)10 days off a month
5) Our rampers makes more than me

I'm sure EK is better than this :sad:

This was said thousands times: our profession, like all others, have conditions dictated merely by market forces!...
Things will only improve when our numbers fall below the required by employers. Simply put.

Medwin

At least you're at your homeland America and frankly speaking, do not expect to be very welcome at the islamic sand pit.
Guess you have plenty of time ahead. Things will certainlly improve, assuming you're in the early 30's or late 20's.
Just a thought.
Good luck!
