Rat brain flies a jet

SCIENTISTS have “grown” a living brain using 25,000 nerve cells from a rat — and taught it to fly a plane.
Experts at Florida University who grew the brain in a laboratory then hooked it up to a fighter jet flight simulator via a computer.

At first it crashed — but it soon learned how to fly the plane.

It caught on so quickly it ended up able to control the jet in hurricane-strength winds.

The research team hopes the experiment will help develop treatments for brain disorders like epilepsy.

I hope MOL isn't reading this.....

Don't mean to offend anyone -well, maybe yes- but...am I the only one here making a connection between the size of that animal brains and the function they can do? Being myself a controller we use to say "this is a monkeys job" from time to time when it's boring....but anyway we keep having fun bout thinking how boring it can be inside the cans. I guess this clarifies lots to a lot of people in my environment -no, not the zoo, but the ops room-.

Gotta leave now...if I'm early at my position they give us an extra banana!!!

The RFDS had this character (http://groups.msn.com/LatinFlyersAirportBar/rfdsoutbackairsafari2003.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1022) flying in the Outback Air Safari last year - and he wasn't alone, there were other unusual aliens too. :hmm: :uhoh: :\
