Does anyone have a start date with QF for Jan or February?

Incidently, when was the last 767 SO course held?

The most junior 767 S/O has a start date of 4 Feb 03 so there has been no training on the 767 for nearly 2 years. I can't see us training many S/Os in the forseeable future. Of course, I was wrong once a long time ago! ;) :p

... Now starting to have a reduction in numbers for 767 S/Os.

Probably won't find out definitively about Jan/Feb for a few more weeks if you're still waiting. I can appreciate how nice a Christmas pressie it would be to some!

Hard to see why there wouldn't be another good sized intake on the A330/744 in January - still pretty short on crew numbers.

With just a little over a week to go till Xmas...my guess is the gals at recruitment are just about winding up and there probably wont be anymore phonecalls going ou till next year....(so unless someone can prove me wrong).....I'm shutting down till next year and wishing everyone outhere in pprune land (especially those on "active consideration")..a merry xmas and a happy new year...may 2005 be that year that we all get that "CALL"!!!!:ok:

On a related note has anyone heard back yet about the 2005 Cadet program?

manfred,

Several Level 2 applicants have been offered Flight Tests over the next month or so. No word on the status of Level 1 selection. Am surprised at how quiet these forums are these days with respect to the cadet program (the good, the bad and the ugly!).

Best of luck to all those currently involved in the selection process.

Gday Manfred,

In regards to the level 2 cadets, I was offered a flight test in early Jan. My interview was about a week ago. The wait was terrible, as I really didn't know what to feel after walking out of that interview room!!

I was told that I would recieve letter with more details and a phone call next week sometime to confirm my flight test date.

I hope this puts you at ease a little bit.

rgds and good luck,
fnb

As the recruitment guys/girls started back on Tuesday, it shouldn't be too long before the ball gets rolling again for what is expected to be another great year for recruitment. Expect more of the same as we saw towards the end of last year... more A330 & B744 courses.

I spoke to recruitment this morning and they said expect to hear from them by the end of the week. So I'm actively considering leaving my phone on for a few more days.

Is actively considered the same as the hold file?

Happy Driver,

Ref Checks must have an expiry date.
Mine were checked in Feburary 2004 and again Yesterday.
Hopefully the calls will come soon.
I hate living in limbo.

Hi

Just wonder what sort of hours you have and age you guys are that have been on the active consideration list for the last year or so with QF.

I ask this because I have heard stories of guys go from stage 1 through ref checks to being given a start date within 8 to 10 weeks.

Just wondering if these stories are true, and what makes those pilots so different.

cheers

TD,

From my experience I have been advised that Qantas look for a very particular personality profile and aptitude. You could be an ace with lots of experience and not get through based on personality profiling, then again, you could have bare minimums and show "ideal" aptitude for Qantas ops, and get in with only a short waiting time. That is, if they have start dates coming up and your timing is right. Basically I think that 99% of us are somewhere in between the two extremes, and that it is hit and miss as far as when your timing goes as to when ground schools are scheduled. I know that when I went through sim and interview in August, all ground schools for the rest of 2004 had already been filled. Just how many files were already under active consideration when my file got there I have no idea.

I think the big question for all of us is: when is the next start date, and what is the number of recruits expected to be taken in? If they recruit in good sized numbers then we all have a better chance of getting on board.

Another question: Is the recruiting machine still producing people onto the "active consideration" list? (anybody know if they are still doing sims and interviews/psych tests??) and if so then the wait time could be increased depending on competitiveness of an application.

I know that the 747-300s are being put on a slow fly program so I'm not so sure about the positions for the Classic, but the other positions sound about right.
The January 747-400 course was cancelled because of admin reasons so there were only the 4 on the A330 course.

Hi All,

Can anybody fill me in as to what QF recruiting means when it asks me if I have submitted my OPG? I.E. what is OPG?

No other news. Still waiting like all of us...

From memory, the OPG is a full dental xray of the whole mouth, used in body identification after the crash.
