View Full Version : Some applications cause warm-boot - not temperature

Hi, folks.

All's been well for a while until last week certain apps - FS2004 for example - caused the PC to boot on starting them up.

I checked the temp and pressures and all's well - also no obvious conflicts.

Since this morning FS2004 has been working just fine! However, after a very low-tech children's game still causes reboot even though a huge app. like FS2004 + Squalkbox + Internet can all run quickly together.

Any ideas please - it's like having a steering wheel in my underpants...

driving me nuts.

PretoriaSillyperson,

Without and details about the OS and the computer hardware, we are just tossing darts at a dart board.

I would first try uninstalling the offending game and reinstalling it.

I would try loading all the latest updates for Windows as well as your Mobo, Vid Card, and Sound Card.

Then I would check the website for the offending game and see if there are any known issues.

If that does not help, then we will take a look at other options.

Take Care,

Richard

Normally, I would do all you suggest except that the fault is internitent - e.g. FS2004 was a no-go but since this morning it runs absolutely fine. That's what I don't get.

The PC is a Dell 2400 Opteron, Celeron, Intel o/b graphics with 512 RAM. Running XP Pro SP1 with Zone Alarm and AVG only in the Start Up list.

PretoriaSillyperson,

Lets give what I listed above a try first.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. The Dell site does not list any info for "Dell 2400 Opteron".
