You won't believe this! I was involved with a massive 14 ship helicopter charter on Thursday (mostly Bell 407s). The mission was to transport the 60 odd biggest casino spenders to a posh golf estate. Whilst wiating for the pax, one of the clients arrived in his own EC-120. Nothing fancy, out of the way and perfectly safe.

Within 20 minutes our CAA was over him like a rash. One of the "professional" pilots involved with the charter, thought it apt to secretly phone the CAA and earn some much needed Brownie points. Only found out the next day who this idiot was!!

Flatdog.

I'm curious. What exactly had the EC120 driver done to warrant being reported? Surely there must have been some justification to get the CAA there?

Nice to know that the same greed that makes taxi drivers in the uS slash each other's tires is shared by the miscreant who made that call.

And you guys wonder why you can't learn to fly and get a professional job in the UK at descent cost due to all the over-regulation! Don't complain about Big Government and then use it for your own petty backbiting!

Who said anything about it being the UK CAA, from my understanding it`s the South African Pilots and their CAA.

Oh Bugger! And I thought this thread was going to be another whinge about the CAA (UK).....

From now on, can we please prefix 'CAA' with whatever nation it is? At least that way, we can ignore it if it doesnt apply to us..

Hey...... South Africa....UK....Nick should have known merely by the fact there were a dozen or more Bell 407's in the same place.....outside of Hurst (Think Fort Worth for you guys on the east side of the salt water divide).....it could not possibly be the UK.

When you fly the big iron...distances shrink in importance.

You mean there is more than ONE CAA? Oh my God, how did that happen?

"60 big casino operators"........"14 Bell 407s"........and someone thought this could be a UK story ?

More likely 6 blokes and 2 44s.

This pilot holds the dubious honour of being a renowned whistle blower. However, in the Oxford Dictionary, next to the phrase: "pot-calling-the kettle-black", this oke's photograph features!

This man use to fly illegally in SA on a PPL(H), and quite regularly did lovely charters while the rest of us slogged it out trying to pass Comm. Aparently holds an FAA ATP(H) too, but yet to be confirmed: in fact, no one has ever seen it.

The flight was from Gold Reef City to Pecanwood next to Hartebeespoort Dam.

indeed, this whole thread is an irrelevance if the poster does not allude to the reason behind his post, what exactly happened?

I have threatened to report a pilot to the CAA (UK) before due to low flying in a built up area (well) below 1000ft, even then I had the tower inform the guy, the low flying stopped nuff said.

The lesson had been learned

So no need to get anal however maybe this case deserved the CAA who knows without any idea of the incident we are wasting our time?

Damn, I fell into the trap! :ugh: I'm off to JB to have a beer!

I assume you mean that the owner of the EC120 was doing a commercial charter with a ppl??
Maybe he just went along with a coulple of (casino) mates....

It's amazing how the jo-burg aviation snake pit works :yuk:

I think I know who the the party in question and it doesn't surprise me in the least.
