And here's the press release!

Major expansion for EuroManx with Avro RJ70 jets Debut on Isle of Man-London City and Southampton_

EuroManx is marking its third year of operations with the acceptance of two BAE SYSTEMS Avro RJ70 jets and a commercial agreement with flyBE. which will see the expanding Isle of Man airline take over the popular London City route, effective 10 January, 2005._

The company will also introduce jet services on a new route from the Isle of Man to Southampton in central southern UK from early next year._ It is the intention that EuroManx and flyBE. will work together to offer excellent connections to Jersey, plus a wide range of European leisure routes, via Southampton Airport.

At the same time, EuroManx will be introducing additional turboprop aircraft initially to serve existing routes to Glasgow, Liverpool and Dublin. These aircraft will also be used to operate flights to Belfast City Airport._ In addition, the Avro RJs will be able to provide flights at peak times on EuroManx’s popular Liverpool route.

EuroManx is leasing two high specification 82-seat leather-upholstered jets,_ previously operated by Air Malta-owned Azzurrair of Italy._ They are currently at Exeter Airport and the first is due to be delivered to the Island by mid December._ The second will follow in early March._

Thirty more jobs on the Island

_EuroManx is actively recruiting for pilots and cabin crew to operate the jets and it is the intention to recruit locally as a priority._ The new route will create some 30 more jobs on the Island.

_“We are delighted to be co-operating with flyBE. to take over this very important link between two premier financial centers, as well as the new services to Southampton, which will connect with flyBE. through to Jersey and European destinations,” said EuroManx Chief Executive Warren Seymour._

_“Passengers have come to enjoy the stress free experience and ease of London City Airport, with its speedy connections to central London and beyond via the

Jubilee Line on the Underground system._ From_late 2005, the airport will have its own dedicated railway station served by the LDR, further enhancing rail links

into London.”_

_“With these new services we want to demonstrate our goal to become the Isle of Man’s national airline and we would like to thank the Isle of Man Government and leading businesses on the Island for their continuing support of EuroManx,” he added.

FlyBE. Managing Director Jim French said: “The cost of operating at London City Airport no longer fits our business model and we are therefore happy to pass the baton on to EuroManx.”

As part of its agreement with flyBE. EuroManx will carry out all ground handling on the Isle of Man and will be offering alternative employment to flyBE.’s personnel.__ In addition, the maintenance of the company’s newly acquired Avro RJ jets will be maintained and supported by flyBE. Aviation Services at Exeter Airport._

...some RJ70's that have been sat at EXT for a while, perhaps?

Is the above still taking place?

Taken from www.londoncityairport.com

Flybe has informed us that the Belfast service will be ceasing as from 9th January and will not be re-commencing. The Isle of Man service stops on the same day, but London City Airport is actively sourcing another operator for this service.

The above sounds like LCY are still looking for somebody to take over the IOM-LCY route.

Certainly does seem strange....

Presume Euromanx cant get LCY approved RJ ops in place by that date given that they don't seem to have an AOC of there own and Denim don't have the RJ on their AOC either.

Anyone know if Denim Air F50s are modified for LCY and if Denim have got crews cleared etc?

Would some one from Euromanx care to answer some of these questions and another like just who is flying these mythical aircraft. Given the big publicity some one might be carrying a lot of egg on the old face, much of which will come from the Manx. Not a good way to win local hearts and minds in fact could turn into a disaster.:{

Manxflights.com is selling three IOM-London City flights and one IOM-Stanstead flight per day during January so you have got to assume Denim Air will operate the London City services. Hanging on to Stanstead seems a strange move, unless this is to provide an option for passengers in case London City does not work out.

Nowcharm Ltd t/a Club 328 (same owners as Euromanx AFAIK) applied for a Type A licence in mid-December (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/213/1674.pdf) and also for permission to operate scheduled and charter services so there may be a connection here. I understand Euromanx only has/had a Type B licence allowing it to opearte operate 20 seats aircraft or smaller so they must rely on other certificated carriers to operate on their behalf (hence why they "ticket provide on behalf of Denim Air bv").

No, but Air Atlantique's ATRs are, and G-IONA is flying for them at the moment.
