To satisfy my curiosity, because of the free seating policy on SWA, how do you finalise the loadsheet in terms of weight and balance if say you have a 60% load factor and the pax have spread themselves around the cabin?

I think we are like most airlines. The weight and balance form (loading schedule) used at Southwest Airlines is of the adjusted weight type, presented in tabular form. This format is based on the use of predetermined system of index units. If we have a trim problem it usually is when there is light pax load. The "Loading Rule" then requires that a certain minimum number of pax be in the forward part of the airplane. Most pax will normally sit in the the forward part anyway.

OK, thanks for that re trim.

True, most SLF favor the front (quick exit at dest I guess). I always tend to head for the back as there's more chance of a row to myself when the flight isn't too full. Hell, if the girls are nice I'm in no hurry to get out!
