Similar to jafo33's post but slightly different!
I'm trying to network the laptop to the home pc with a blue 'cross over' cable.
The laptop is running XP Home (and trying to connect with Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller), and the PC XP Pro.
No problems PC-end as it shows the network as working under 'network connections', however the laptop says 'Limited or no connectivity'.
It says it occurred because 'the network did not assign a network address to the computer'.
After trying the 'Repair' option, and trying to renew the IP on the laptop, it tells me the IP cannot be renewed.
Firewalls are turned off on both machines however still cannot fathom it out!
Any assistance much appreciated.
