Hi 10 20 AM this Friday, a 4 engined jet heading East low but climbing over Newcastle/Gateshead towards the sea.

Unusual to see a plane in that bit of air - apart from Mil helos.

What was it? Why the less than usual route?

We were just sitting here in the office wondering.

Thanks....Dan

Yeah sorry, I didn't get to see it properly.looking up out of an office window.

It wasn't a high tail C 17 looking machine. Four engines..seen from underneath, A 340 perhaps? Don't think it was a Sentry...didn't notice a radar..

Was going to suggest the SN2188 RJ85 service to BRU, but that leaves at 10:50

Well, if its in the same league as an A340, it might have been a DC8 or a Tanker(B707).

T'was an E-3D sentry. I live on the 25 approach about 3 miles out and also saw it around the time you say. Making several approaches.
