Where Crash Killed 265, Mourners Are Upset to See Homes

NY Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/13/nyregion/13flight.html?oref=login) For a third painful November, Teresita Corporan, 17, took roses to the Rockaways.

She intended to place them at the spot where her father, Danilo Corporan, died three years ago in the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in Belle Harbor, Queens.

But instead of finding a barren crash site or the memorial wall that had sprung up after the accident, Teresita arrived yesterday morning to find a new home with bay windows and a spacious front porch. Its freshly sodded lawn was cordoned off with metal police barricades.

Teresita reached over and placed her flowers on the plush front lawn, which by the end of the ceremony had been strewn with hundreds of other long-stemmed roses. Can't say I'd want to be living there:ooh:

No - me either. But you can't blame the mourners? They (the city)probably should have made one lot into a small memorial park or something.
